The radiant floor is a heating system that is rather unrecognized. Radiant heating is based on the emission of infrared waves (invisible) by a large massive surface.
However, it can save a lot of money, because it is possible to heat a multitude of surfaces, including floors, walls and even ceilings, with much more efficiency than traditional heating. The secret is in the convection of air and electricity, or in some cases of liquids, also known as hydronic heating by radiation, or a network of pipes in which a fluid (normally water) circulates. Several private and corporate houses are opting for the radiant floor these days because the benefits are many: lower heating costs, system efficiency which translates into easier maintenance, reduced allergies, to name a few, each. The standard for indoor installation tends towards walls, ceilings and floors. The floor is composed of rigid insulation, a network of resistors or pipes fixed to the insulation and a screed, usually concrete. Most systems allow you to control the temperature manually or electronically for each room in the house. There are "ready-to-assemble" assemblies, but it is strongly recommended to hire plumbing and heating professionals to install a radiant floor system. This ensures a safe and fast installation thanks to the know-how and expertise of the technician. It is even possible to obtain specialized services in building engineering and to replace a heating system on a listed heritage or prestige building. If in doubt, call a specialist plumber!
